a real world example of a translations would be a reflection. if there is sun, water tends to reflect anything over it so if you were to look at mountains behind a lake from afar, you would see that the mountains are reflected downward or in math terms "over the x-axis" creating the exact same image except flipped over.

The Earth spinning on its axis is a rotation. The Earth rotates on its axis at a certain rate. As a result, night and day occur at different times in different places.

One example of a transformation in real life is a mirror. When you look into a mirror, you see an exact reflection of yourself. Most of us look into a mirror everyday and do not even realize this reflection.

A real world transformation would be a car moving. The car demonstrates translations, because it is moving around, but it does not change in its size or shape. The car also does not flip onto its side, or upside down, because that would be a rotation. 3/24/2015 01:57:12 pm
One real world example of transformations is with planes. A plane at Takeoff is the same size and shape of the same plane while landing or on the runway. It is just a Translation since the plane is just in a different angle.

One example of a real world transformation is a reflection. Water reflects an image when exposed to light, such as ponds even lakes. It kind of has a mirror effect.

One example of a real life transformation is putting a box on the floor and moving it. This is translation, because you can move it in a straight line without rotating it.

An example of a real world transformation is when you are playing soccer and you kick the ball. This is an example of both a rotation and a translation because the ball is rotating and it is also moving forward.

One example of a real world transformations is a clock or a watch. On a clock or a watch, the minute hand and the hour hand rotates throughout the day. Therefore, a clock or a watch is a transformation, since the hands rotate.

Example of a real world transformations is anything falling, basiclly gravity. This shows translation because the objects move down, (y axis)

An example of a real world transformation is playing chess because you are translating the pieces up and down the base and also at the beginning the the pieces on both sides are reflections of each other.

An example of real world transformation is when shooting a basketball. When you shoot you need a rotation on the shot, and it rotates around the axes of the ball.

An example of a real world transformation is the fan. When the fan is on, the blades rotate around an axis, just like a shape in the coordinate plane.

An example of a real life transformation would be when someone opens a door. When you push or pull a door open, it is actually rotating since it has hinges attached to it, keeping it in place.

Figure skaters display real world transformations. They perform spins and turns by rotating on the vertical axis of their leg with the center of rotation at the toe pick of their skates. They also translate across the ice by skating in lines.

A real world transformation would be a rotation because we rotate our head at an angle to view the world.

An example of a real life transformation is opening our lockers. It is a rotation since you can spin the lock 90 degrees, 180 degrees, 270 degrees, etc. about the center, just like you do on the coordinate plane.

A real life example of translation can be seen in basketball because players pivot (rotation) around their foot, they shoot, pass or dribble the ball (translation), and make symmetrical formations to stay organized (reflection)

One example of a translation in real life would be if you were going to move furniture. Doing so would result in a translation of the furniture, from one area of a room to another.

One real life example of a transformation would be the wheels on a car, which is a rotation. The wheels move 360 degrees and keep moving. The wheels can move 90, 180, 270, or 360 degrees depending on various factors such as the speed of car or the size of the wheel.

Many of our everyday life uses transformations. For example, when we wake up in the morning to go to the washroom, we will see our reflection in the mirror. As it is called, this transformtion is called reflection. In addition, when we turn the handle of a door, we use rotation. In order for the door to actually open, you need to rotate that handle a certain number of degrees. This is how transformation affects our everyday life. (I described 2) Comments are closed.
