A real world example of enlargement and reduction would be when you go to the eye doctor for an eye exam, they dilate your pupils (enlargement) and after a while your pupils return to their natural size (reduction).

One thing that can be enlarged and reduced is an iPhone screen. If a person wants to see the text larger, he or she can enlarge the view on his or her phone screen. If a person wants to read more text at a time, he or she can reduce the view.

One thing that can be enlarged or reduced a window that is opened on your laptop. You can make it smaller if you want to put something else on the screen or you can full screen it and just see that one big window.

A real life dilation would be an interior architect or designer drawing a lay out in similar proportion to the actual room/house. A reduction would be reducing an image in size on Word Document.

After you take a picture on a camera, you can send it to a photo store to blow it up(enlarge) or make it smaller(reduction). A photo can be enlarged to fit a bigger picture frame or it can be reduced to fit a smaller picture frame. This is an example of dilation in real life.

One object that can dilate is a football. As you let air out of it, the ball shrinks. This is a reduction because the ball is becoming smaller. Making the ball smaller makes it easier to throw. I wonder who did that.

Microscopes have lenses that can be used to enlarge objects otherwise invisible to the naked eye so we can see them. If you enlarge the object too much you can use adjustment knobs to reduce the size.

One thing is when you are creating scales of buildings. You will begin by making a miniature version, that should be in proportion to the real life building, thus using enlargement and reduction

When you buy school pictures, you can order from several different sizes, such as wallet size, 5'' by 7'', etc. These pictures are enlargements and reductions of each other.

A real world example of an enlargement is when parents get mad. I'm pretty sure our whole class has experienced this. They're looking at you, all simple and smily and stuff, and you say something out of turn. Uh oh. Your parents eyes like come out of the socket, and enlarge by twice their size. (Probably just their pupils but still it counts). And then comes the reduction. You have a smile when talking, but when your parents eyes get enlarged, your face and mouth and smile and body gets reduced. It like grows smaller.

An example of an enlargement would be zooming in on a webpage, because the proportions of the words to its surroundings remains the same. Comments are closed.
